Rift Application - Kanubis/Alu

Post by Kanubis » Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:00 pm

Hello Daedalus guild :D

This is a joint application for me and my girlfriend, however if necessary she's more than happy to make her own seperate app. She's busy drawing stuff at the moment, but say the word and I'll get her writing. Obviously she'll sign up for the forum regardless ;)

Anyway, I'm a 32 year old Englishman living in Denmark, and she's the similarly aged Dane who lured me over here four years ago. We actually met in Starwars Galaxies back in 2004, with her playing an Imperial and me playing a Rebel. It was very romantic in a sickeningly nerdy way. We've been playing MMOs since, mainly WoW but we've dabbled in others.

We've been taking breaks from WoW, and they've got longer and more frequent. I actually love that game, but enough is eventually enough and it's time to move on. We've both raided a bunch of stuff and are happy using voice comms and stuff. Alu has been known to sing on comms on occasion, normally such artful classics as 'Sit on my Face' and suchlike.

Character-wise, I'm probably rolling a warrior, and Alu's probably rolling a mage. It's possible that on a whim we'll end up as a Cleric and Rogue respectively. Regardless of what we choose, we'll embrace the opportunity to fulfill multiple rolls by having a Role dedicated to the respective non-DPS Souls. I should stress that we'll do this because we enjoy the different roles in MMO, not because we're desperately trying to be useful for acceptance.

So why Daedalus?

Well, after shortlisting Guardian guild on EU PvE servers, it was a matter of looking for the one with the best feel. And there it was right in the charter: "Don't be a prick." The best rule for a guild, and if we're honest, pretty much the main rule to live life by generally. Actually, the whole charter read really well.

We're not guild-hoppers. We've been in our previous guild since 2005 so we haven;t made this selection flippantly! I know that there's no more beta left for you to trial us in or anything, but uh.. well, we're lovely. Honestly.

If there's anything else you want to know, please do ask :)

Hey chap, and indeed chapess :)

Nice to hear from you and welcome.

You sound the sort, we like people who play the game and have fun, but can 'into' it enough to acheive a bit from time to time :)

Enjoy, and looking forward to seeing you in game. Have you pre-ordered ? are you likely to be joining in the madness that they are calling the 'headstart' ?

Oh yes, we pre-ordered after Beta 6 (first one that we got to play together) so we'll be raring to struggle with the login server on Thursday evening with the rest of you!

We actually played up to level 28ish on Defiant side in Beta 7, so that we didn't spoil too much of the Guardian game. We've both done enough of Silverwood that we won't be totally lost, but I at least haven't seen Gloamwood or further. Alu tends to wander in to higher level zones for a look around...

I was lucky enough to Alpha, and I tend not to get bored repeating stuff. I've done that lil noob zone many times now tryingto find loads of those books ! 13 so far :)

I have done most of the zones a fair bit now having got to 45th. But I did not cane it. I spent longer crafting pottering around and learning where all the harvesting nodes for mining were.....

Oooh Alpha!

We probably won't be the fastest levelers. We plan to hit pretty much every Rift and Invasion going since it seems you can't have too much Planarite, and we'll be doing the zone events because we like to get epic stuff even when it'll be obsolete in a few levels!

Oh, and if I do roll a cleric, I also might have to go all the way to Stonefield to do the mines instance so I can get the awesome Gimp Helmet I had in beta.

Hej :)

Good to have you aboard and nice to see you pick out the key rule. Look forward to catching up with you once the doors to Telara are thrown open.

I'd imagine we'll be up and running by the end of the 25th but in the interim join chat channel daedalus.

Welcome to you both!

I almost forgot I was in the Alpha, it's a bit of a lonely place as the population is much lower in UK times and only a couple of Guildies got in.

I think I'm going to wait now for headstart, so see you thursday.
